Abstract

Proponents do recognize that potential health concerns must be considered in relation to use by very young children, but also cite the economic and educational advantages of mobile technologies. "Because of their relatively low cost and accessibility in low-income communities, handheld devices can help advance digital equity, reaching and inspiring populations at the edges" -children from economically disadvantaged communities and those from developing countries (Shuler, 2009, p. 4). * Utilize the technologies as well as literacy resources that children are already using.
